From start to finish, this was a first-class experience. The team worked with me from minute one and delivered the best communication I’ve ever had when purchasing a home. This was my third home purchase, and by far the smoothest and most flawless process yet. Whatever you're doing to keep your people—keep doing it! Marcus and Noelle were an absolute pleasure to work with. Me and my fiance have been telling everyone about our wonderful experience.

I'm very glad I chose Veterans United to purchase my first home. The whole home buying process seemed very overwhelming but they somehow made it understandable in bite size pieces. I was super anxious and lost at the beginning and they held my hand at each step. With their insurance brokerage, I found cheaper auto, home, and flood insurance.

As first-time home buyers, we couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide us through the process. Our loan officer, real estate agent, concierge, and assistant agent were all exceptional—consistently accessible, honest, informative, and incredibly patient throughout the entire experience. What stood out most was how seamless everything felt. From start to finish, the process was so smooth that we found ourselves wondering why we waited so long to purchase a home in the first place. Beyond just helping us close on the house, the team also supported us with setting up home security, utilities, and even offered great recommendations for in-home services, which made settling in that much easier.A special thank-you to our assistant agent Mrs Whitney and concierge Sarah, who kept us well-informed during the underwriting process and reached out with weekly check-ins to ensure we had no lingering questions or concerns. That consistent communication made a big difference in keeping us confident and at ease.We would absolutely recommend this team to anyone looking to buy a home. Their professionalism, care, and attention to detail made our experience not only manageable but truly enjoyable.

Its stressful purchasing a new home. I am a very busy person and the process to purchase is easy. Veterans Home makes it easy to do paperwork and get things processed. If I had any thing bothering me, I just sent a text or called, and they answered my questions quickly. I thought someone was going to pressure me to buy a house once I made contact with them, but that was never the case. We started the process over 2 years ago, and my team completely understood when I wasn't sure about a property. Once I was ready, they jumped into action and walked me through the process.

I'm happy the loan went through. They overall offer lowest interest rates. Zero down loan is a wonderful benefit for the military to have. Our appraiser was actually very punctual and timely. We had one member I loved her job is reminding to set up utilities and other things of that nature massive sweetheart and emotional support for me. We also had an insurance person, he was wonderful got us a lower rate on car insurance super cool guy. The bad: I believe it was a move concierge called to set up services ALL he cared about was pushing vivent home security on me. After I read reviews, I asked him to cancel them coming out. I was pressured to sign and proceed around 6 times despite telling staff NO. After I did not sign, he did not set up my fios and never contacted me again. The two men I texted with, I felt never listened to me and found me a burden. They were extremely friendly when we first reached out stating they'd be available 24/7, then when I had question they were all on vacation or leave. I voiced my goals and what worked for me but I was not really asked what I wanted. Despite commented on the mock closing disclosures what we wanted we were not listened to at all and then staff irritated we werent estatic over lower closing cost. We wanted closing costs as close as possible to $42k for the lowest possible mortgage. They wrote everything up for $31k expected us to be thrilled then when asked to fix informed me we wouldnt be able to close in time if they did it the way we told them for 2 months we wanted it. I had to ask very specific questions to have everything explained to me and even sent our information to a separate lender for someone to explain things to me because with atleast Ward I just kept being told everything was fine. Huge communication breakdown. When I had concerns over the automatic weekly mock closing disclosures just told "theyre automatic everything will be corrected later."
It came across as a lack of concern or interest assisting. We were also pushed to pay the appraisal fee immediately because the appraiser can be slow. We followed instructions, then received a bad inspection report and they did not want to freeze or pause our money and informed us VA appraisers don't like when he do that. UMMMMMMM ok I don't like spending $600 on a house I didn't buy. I am overall not impressed with them other than the insurance rep and the woman Deloris that checks in and helps assist. Deloris is ABOVE and BEYOND wonderful and took the stress off.

Response from Veterans United

Hey Campbell,

Thanks for sharing such a detailed and honest review. I’m really glad to hear that parts of the experience went smoothly—especially that you had great support from your appraiser, insurance contact, and Deloris. She’s truly one of a kind, and I’ll make sure she hears how much her help meant to you.

That said, I’m really sorry the rest of the process left you feeling unheard and overwhelmed. Having to explain your goals multiple times and still not be listened to is incredibly frustrating—especially when it leads to avoidable confusion and pressure near closing. You shouldn’t have had to ask so many specific questions just to get the clarity you needed.

The experience you described with the concierge service and pressure around third-party products is also concerning. That’s not how those services are supposed to work, and I can understand why that interaction felt frustrating and dismissive. We appreciate you pointing it out so we can take a closer look.

If you’re open to it, I’d like to make sure your experience is reviewed more thoroughly. Our Client Advocate team can be reached at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

Thanks again for the feedback—and for sticking with the process even when it didn’t go the way it should have. You deserved better communication, more transparency, and a smoother ride.

Lance Nilson and the Veterans United team repeatedly exceed my highest of expectations! Home buying is a challenging effort involving a huge investment and personal and financial risk. The process is frequently associated with stress, anxiety, and doubt. Veterans United provides buyers with a team wholly dedicated to address those challenges so that buyers are confident and ready for home ownership.Among an industry that requires buyers' leaps of faith, Veterans United requires but a small step. I trust Lance Nilson, Kayla Humphrey, Landon Hoffman, and Deloris Matthews COMPLETLY! They are extraordinarily dedicated and were always ready to answer questions by e-mail, text, or phone and was usually able to anticipate my questions and provided answers before the questions finished forming in my head. I feel as if I'm their only, and most important, client. As a repeat homeowner and a prudent investor, I conduct extensive research to ensure I receive competitive service & products. Veterans United has delivered on multiple occasions and have earned by business and trust in now 3 home purchases. I am most pleased by their promptness, sage advice, support through processes, and ease of communication/processing. Together, the team takes a remarkably complicated and stressful process and simplifies it beyond expectations. Lance and the Veterans United team will continue to be my first call for all future mortgage brokerage needs!

Our team was amazing. Always quick to return a phone call or email and answer any questions or concerns along the way, putting our mind at ease during the process. The easiest home loan process from pre-approval to closing we've experienced by far. It was an absolute pleasure working with our team.
