I initially started my loan process with Veterans United Home Loans but made the mistake of switching to Navy Federal Credit Union halfway through because they offered a lower rate I could lock in—huge mistake.
My closing was delayed twice, and just two days before the third scheduled closing, I was STILL being asked for documents I had already submitted multiple times. At that point, it was clear the process was completely disorganized and another delay was inevitable.
I withdrew my application immediately and went back to Veterans United—and that decision saved my entire homebuying process. Mr. Shawn Hall and Mr. Anthony Perrigo took over and had me clear to close in just ONE WEEK, with an even better interest rate.
The difference was night and day. Veterans United was efficient, responsive, and professional from start to finish—everything NFCU was not during my experience.
If you value your time, sanity, and closing date, skip NFCU and go straight to Veterans United.
Shawn Hall and Anthony Perrigo are outstanding. I can’t thank them enough—10 stars all the way.

10 out of 10 for Shawn! 100% would and have already recommended using Shawn to a friend. I believe he went out of his way to ensure we had exactly what we needed for closing. His communication was outstanding and he was never too busy to answer questions. If you have a “kudos” reward/acknowledgment he absolutely deserves it. I will never have enough good things to say about him. So lucky we got paired up with him.Now, some of your other staff….: like Stephanie Sanders is about as useful as tits on a turtle. She doesn’t return phone calls for starters, even after leaving messages with questions. She kept requesting information that I didn’t have and she was told this (multiple times) I told her I didn’t have the information and I wouldn’t until after a certain time (HELOC paperwork that I could get after closing on that loan which she was given a date for) but kept insisting she needed it, in a an email that was shared with the sellers agent (which I did not appreciate) because that realtor was able to use against me, making me look like I wasn’t doing anything. Seriously, who does that. Stephanie would be the only person who would make me tell others to stay away from your company. She’s completely and utterly useless.But, to close on a happy note, totally appreciated Shawn. He was absolutely fantastic!
