This was my first time using Veterans United for a VA loan, and overall the experience was good, but not without some avoidable frustrations.What went well:
The loan team was responsive and helpful when I had questions, and they explained the VA-specific parts of the process clearly — things like how the NOV works, what the appraisal means, and what to expect as we moved through underwriting. When issues came up, they did work to correct them, and the communication itself was solid.What could have been better:
Some of the early estimates were off, and a few fees showed up later that hadn’t been included in initial disclosures. I also had to point out several items that should’ve been marked as paid. None of this is catastrophic, but it did create extra work on my end.
The biggest frustration was the appraisal being scheduled later than it should have been, which pushed closing back by a week. That delay had real impact on my timeline.Bottom line:
Veterans United ultimately got the loan approved and handled the VA process competently, but I’d recommend future borrowers stay on top of details and timelines. The team is helpful, but you’ll want to double-check the numbers and make sure everything is progressing when it should.
Overall, everyone I communicated with was courteous and helpful. I appreciate them assisting me with parts of the process I did not understand as a first-time home buyer.

After being told no on VA loans thru other banks, Veterans United said let us try and they delivered. On top of helping us buy a house with 50% less down payment, they also cut our auto insurance in half.
They were sticklers on a number of items (e.g. a scan of a paper check that clipped off a sliver of one edge had to be rescanned), but overall it couldn't have gone more smoothly.
The only thing I would change about your process is to advertise the actual interest rates rather than the lowest that could be purchased with points, I found that misleading. Everything else was a really good experience.

Fantastic service from start to finish. As a first time home buyer the only hiccup I had was not initially aware of the closing cost/cash to close part of the process, but we were able to take a step back and proceed again. Being able to sign and upload documents beforehand made actual closing day appointment take 10 minutes! I'd recommend any first time homebuyers use Veterans United.
It was a little bit hairy at the end. There was some miscommunication between the title company and the loan company and it resulted in a significant backup for moving, and that created an issue with loss of work hours for that day.
